1996 Nissan Maxima Engine Stalls

Engine tends to stall when driving locally for a few miles. It started only when the car was slowing down to a stop. Lately, it's been stalling randomly. Fuel filter has been replaced. Transmission fluid was changed about 8 months ago. Looking at spark plugs next followed by ignition coils and fuel regulator. Fuel pump is a pain to replace so this would be last item for me to tackle. Any other ideas?

Did you ever figure it out?

My car runs fine for the first 5 minutes, then after it warms up, staggers on acceleration from a full stop occasionally and I experienced my first random stall yesterday at a stoplight.

Please let me know if you found a solution as I can foresee a large bill if I just take it in to any random shop!
