Several days ago I started hearing a whining noise coming from the engine when I start the car, and the noise continues while driving. None of the dash indicator lights have come on. What could this noise be caused by, and is it a precursor to a potential problem?

Timing belt when was it last changed? Could be it. Or power steering pump/AC compressor/Alternator.
