Engine Cooling problem
2002 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

When I stop at a light or in stop and go traffic
the car overheats and I have to put heater on to lower the needle. I just replaced the thermostat in January and new water pump was put in last summer. What do you think is the problem thanks

Are the cooling fans coming on? If not then turn on the A/C and see if that turns the fan on. If the fan still does not come on then suspect faulty fan motor. If the A/C does turn the fan on then suspect faulty engine coolant temperature sensor.
