1999 Mitsubishi Galant Overheating?

I have a 1999 mitsubishi galant with 118,306 miles and I just bought it and the dealer had told me that the engine temperature guage was broke but it had nothing to do with the engine itself. Since yesterday after I get out of my car I smellsomething maybe antifreeze or oil like? I was wondering what you think?

Best get that temperature gauge replace asap you won't know if the engine is overheating and will cause some serious damages if it happens-what you smelling has nothing to do with the gauge-You're leaking somewhere an oil leak also can do some major damages
