1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse hard to shift

I was down shiting to slow down I took the car out of gear fine but went to put it back into gear and couldnt. So I pulled over and set for just a minute. Got mad and forced it into first, then to second, drove in second for the 6 blocks home and now it goes in and out of realy all but second gear. I can force it in and out but im not sure what it is I have been told maby linkeg
