I have a 2000 mercury villager sport, it runs ok thens hesitates, you stop and pull over and let the car be then go and it runs fine. But this last time it didnt go away. What can cause thisproblem. At first I said timing belt, but the van refired and ran ok for a bit., I also thought fuel pump or filter, or even the cad. Convertor. I am stumped and have no vechile until I get this repared any help would be appreciated.

You may have a vacuum leak, get a can of spray gumout, spray the vac lines and maniflod area, when the idle changes, youve found the leak! You want the engine running and spray on the outside but do direct the stream onto the hoses, if it is a vacuum leak, the engine idle will change speed, then you have detected a leak, repair the vacuum leak and see how it runs!
Then go with the basics, last full tune up was? Filters?
