1995 Mercury Villager Speedometer/Odometer not working

The RPM meter is working but the odometer and speedometer are not working I have a feeling it might be the speed sensor. I changed out the dash just becuase I had a extra one if anyone has any other ideas that would be awesome thank you

Most likely due to faulty vehicle speed sensor, yes. Are they not working at all or just inaccurate?

Hi--I have the same problem and have done some research. Apparently if the speedometer is also not working, it is probably related to the sensor. If only the odometer and trip mileage is not working, it is likely that the plastic gear inside the odometer is bad. Odometers are around $40 and I have not yet found a gear, but looking at similar gears, it is probably better just to get the whole thing.

Also, if you need to locate a replacement gear, they need to know exactly what type of transmission you have. I was told to call a dealership parts office with the VIN number so they can tell you, then you can shop around if the price seems high or they don't have one.
