Smells problem
1998 Mercury Mountaineer V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic

The gas tank displays corrosion and needs replacement. Does the Mountaineer tank come free without suspension or other major component removal? Any other advise on the R/R of a 1999 Mountaineer gas tank would be greatly appreciated.

To the best of my knowledge, there are only two straps that hold it in. You will also need to remove or disconnect the down pipe (filler tube) to remove it. The wiring may need removed prior to it coming entirely out, but other than than, nothing special.
