I have a 2003 mercedes e320, 80000 miles, v6 with a 6 disc cd changer in the front dash. The CD changer is registered on disc 5 but won't play anything, and does not recognize disc 1-4 or 6. Can't eject any CD's, red light flashes and you hear a grinding noise like it's going to discharge but nothing happens. The door stays open, but eventually closes on its own. Also, the display panel is showing CD6 in the bottom left corner, even though CD5 is displayed in the upper center.

The issues you are experiencing with your 2003 Mercedes E320's CD changer can be indicative of a mechanical or electronic problem. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the CD changer:

Reset the system: Try resetting the CD changer system by disconnecting the vehicle's battery for about 10-15 minutes. This can help reset the electronics and potentially resolve any software glitches.

Check for stuck CDs: It's possible that there may be a CD stuck in the changer, preventing it from properly functioning. Use a flashlight and visually inspect the CD slot for any visible obstructions. If you can see a stuck CD, try gently prying it out using tweezers or a thin, flat tool. Be careful not to damage the CD or the mechanism.

Clean the CD changer: Dust and debris can sometimes cause issues with CD changers. Use a CD lens cleaning kit to clean the lens of the CD changer. Follow the instructions provided with the cleaning kit to ensure proper use.

Check the CD changer fuse: Verify if there is a dedicated fuse for the CD changer in your vehicle's fuse box. Refer to your vehicle's manual for the location of the fuse and check if it is blown. Replace the fuse if necessary.
