2000 Mercedes Benz ML320 GEAR SHIFTER LOCKOUT

WHEN I START THE CAR ALL OF THE DASH LIGHTS GO OUT AS USUAL - THEN WHEN I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BAS/ESP LIGHT COMES ON AND I CAN'T SHIFT OUT OF PARK - WHEN I MANUALLY OVERIDE THE LOCKOUT SYSTEM THE CAR DRIVES FINE (THE BAS/ESP LIGHT STAYS ON) - EVERY TIME I START THE CAR IT DOES THE SAME THING.

IS THIS TIED TO THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH?

THOUGHT ABOUT LOW VOLTAGE BUT HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH STARTING !

Have the car plugged into a diagnostic computer to check for fault codes stored ... check for leaks around the master cylinder area .. it could be a faulty/leaking brake pressure sensor !

CHECKED AND I HAVE NO NEW OR OLD CODES-

CHECKED FOR FLUID LEAKS AROUND MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER. NO LEAKS AND RESEVOIR FULL-

NOW THE FUN PART ABOUT CARS - YESTERDAY THE BAS/ESP LIGHT STOPPED COMING ON WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE AND THE SHIFTER CAME OUT OF PARK - HAS BEEN OPERATING NORMALLY EVER SINCE?

It could have been a low voltage supply problem to the brake sensor ? as you suspected ... let me know if anything changes in the future
