Are there any common problems with the b2600i that I should know about? The previous owner blew the head gasket and then let it set for like ten years; thus the minor rust in cylinders 2 and 3. I'm in the process of rebuilding it. Any tips?

Hi there,

I would be more concerned about the car sitting idle for 10 years, when its going again, you may be plagued with oil leak, brake faults and coolant leaks and other problems, why? Because seals are designed to be wet with a small amount of oil, when they dry out from no use they will shrink and they can crack, rust will form behind wheel cylinder and master cyl cups and damage seals when operated, hoses will dry out and deteriorate, fuel systems will form rust internally, there are a host of hidden problems, not at least the rust in the bores and sticky piston rings, if it has not been turned over, you may break a ring if you try to crank it, add diesel into the bores and let it soak down through the rings, give them a chance to free up a bit.
