Hi, my girlfriend has a mazda 323 hatchback which died about 2 weeks ago and was not getting a signal from the distibutor. I was in the process of changing the distributor when I suddenly started getting spark again so I reassembled the car and sent it on its way a week later the car started acting funny and then died the same way it did before. I then went to the local junk yard and got a distributor and put it in since that point the car has not ran. It has spark, it has 50 lbs fuel pressure and it has ok compression. The timing belt is loose but as far as I can tell the timing is still on. The Pcm is not pulling any codes. Please if anyone can help me I will be greatfull. This car is kicking my ass.

Make sure you got a distributo for a 323 for one. The protege distributor look just like a 323 one, but will not work in the 323. Also is the spark blue or orange? Orange spark is no good and is not enough to start the car. Also you may have an ignighter issue with the car. This ofter presents itself as a distributor failer. The ignighter is located under the ignition coil on the driver side of the engine compartment and has a connector with three wires and is about the size of a box of matches.

I would lean towards a distributor though
