Hi,

I was doing a brake job earlier and realized how hot the lugs were and thought of you. LOL The brakes were working properly, but the lugs were hot.

So, I was wondering how you made out.

Let me know.

I got told Hyundai Elantra lug nuts do get hot, lol. But there not as bad as they were now I'm dealing with a clunking noise on the passenger side front. And I know it's not the struts because those just got replaced. Now I'm wondering what that could be lol. If you have a Facebook look me up Destanie Nowell.

Hi,

I can't have a Facebook or any social media accounts. I'm a teacher and have learned not to even try. LOL

As far as the noise, is there a specific time it happens? For example, does it happen when the brakes are applied, when you hit a bump, or when accelerating?

Let me know.

Hi,

The first things I would check would be the stabilizer links and make sure the sway bar is tight and the bushings are good. I'm trying to think of what they may have done by replacing the brake hoses, but there isn't much.

Don't laugh but check to make sure the wheels are tight. LOL

I attached a pic below and highlighted the links and bushings to check. Also, make sure there isn't a loose wheel.

Social media isn't a good thing when one is a teacher. Ugh! I can only imagine how bad that could end up.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you, I'll check those and see. If it's not that could it be the control arm?

Hi,

If there is a worn bushing, yes it can make noise. If you lift the front off of the ground, see if there is any play in the wheel.

Let me know what you find.

Okay, I'll check it all out tomorrow evening. And I think the old break hoses may have had the messed-up fibers in them. And it wasn't releasing the piston all the way.

Well, I found out the clunking noise was a broken bottom motor mount. At least it is getting fixed.

Hi,

Interesting. Usually, that is heard when placing the vehicle in gear or loading the engine. Is the part being installed by a shop or do you plan to do it yourself?

Let me know.

The shop is installing it on Wednesday. It's still under warranty so I figured I would let them mess with that since they have the lift, lol.

I totally agree. LOL

Let me know if all issues are resolved. Hopefully, you will have a chance to enjoy the vehicle before the warranty runs out. LOL

Take care,

You're not a pain, lol. It was the hydraulic upper mount that was broken. And as I would drive the motor would move so good thing, I took it in, lol. But I got it back yesterday evening and so far, it is running great. Every now and then I smell a weird smell, but I think it's the new brakes, rotors and calipers at least, I hope.

Hi,

I'm glad to know it's fixed. As far as the odor is concerned, hopefully, you are correct. I can tell you that the new rotors are shipped with an oily solution that is to prevent rusting. If that wasn't cleaned properly, that can smell. When new pads and rotors are installed, you are supposed to burnish them. That requires stopping the vehicle about a hundred times at speeds around 30 MPH. That would burn off anything on them. LOL

Regardless, I'm glad to know it's fixed. If anything changes, let me know. Also, feel free to come back anytime in the future if you have questions.

Take good care of yourself,

Joe
