I need to locate the automatic Transmission Control Solenoid on my vehicle listed above and then remove and replace it. I have the replacement part but both manuals I have but give me no help in location or removal/replacement of this part.

Good afternoon,

It is part of the valve body.

I attached a picture of the part. Can you confirm that is the part?

Why are you replacing it? Is there a code that points to it?

This is not a common failure at all.

Bought this car from private seller, on the way home car dropped out of gear when my dad (who was driving) went to accelerate. Would not go back into gear. Tow truck guy said get someone with code reader, friend brought one out he said the code came up as Shift Solenoid 1 malfunction. He and others I talked to said to get this part and replace it.

Can I have the code number please? Codes do not always identify bad parts just failed systems.

Okay, this code is electrical and does not indicate a component issue.

I attached the flow chart for the code which needs to be followed. It could be a harness issue.
