My air conditioner makes a thumping noise in the rear of the vehicle (inside rear passenger side) what can I do to stop this?

MINE DID THE SAME THING. THERE IS A MOTORIZED "FLAPPER" THAT DIRECTS THE AIR FROM THE FLOOR VENTS TO THE ROOF VENTS. THERE IS A SMALL TRAY ON THE INSIDE RIGHT REAR TRIM PANEL. YOU CAN POP THIS TRAY OFF AND ACCESS THE MOTORIZED DOOR. WITH THE REAR A C ON YOU CAN HEAR IT VERY CLEARLY WITH THE TRAY OFF AND CAN ALSO PINPOINT WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM. THE EASIEST WAY TO TELL IF IT IS THIS DOOR BINDING IS TO UNPLUG THE CONNECTOR RIGHT ON IT. IF THE PROBLEM STOPS ONCE YOU'VE DISCONNECTED IT THEN THE HEAT / A C BOX NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AND CLEANED TO ALLOW THAT DOOR TO OPEN AND CLOSE FREELY. THIS ISN'T TOO BAD OF A JOB BUT DOES REQUIRE SOME DISASSEMBLING OF THE INTERIOR. CARE MUST ALSO BE TAKEN AS TO NOT HARM ANY OF THE COOLANT LINES. DO NOT REMOVE THESE HOSES UNLESS THE A C HAS BEEN EVACUATED! THERE ARE ALSO TWO HOSES THAT CARRY ENGINE COOLANT TO THE REAR HEATER CORE. THIS CAN ALL BE ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT DISSCONNECTING THESE FOUR HOSES. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. ALSO VERIFY ENGINE. THEY ONLY CAME WITH 8 CYLINDER ENGINES.
