Engine shuts off when transmission is shifted into gear

My car is in limp mode. I can start it put it in gear it shuts off and it will not go at all. What could it be?

Good morning,

Does it stall in reverse as well? This is not limp mode. Limp mode allows the engine to run and the vehicle to move but limited power.

Is the check engine light on? If it is, do you have the code?

Also, it could be the throttle body that has carbon build upon the plate. I would clean the plate and see if it makes a difference.
