I have a 2010 Prado 150 series recently purchased, drove like a dream it’s automatic transmission and suddenly going up hills it wouldn’t knock back gears it would stay in 5th gear going super slow then on highway wouldn’t change from 4th gear to 5th would rev out on 3 and not click over if I shifted it over to manually change gears it still would not go in 5th gear. I disconnected the battery overnight and reconnected lights were gone and drive normal for about 20 minutes then lights come on and wouldn’t change gears again I have it booked in at Toyota next week can I still drive in the meantime? Any ideas? 4 Lo traction control light and engine all came on together.

It sounds like the PCM when out or you have a turbine shaft speed sensor that has gone out, but we need to run the codes to see what comes up to help fix the problem. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here is the location of the shaft sensors so you can check it out and replace the sensor if needed if that code comes up. Also, check the fuses with the system on.

Check out the images (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem so we can see what's going on.
