Key stuck in ignition

Help my key is stuck in ignition in 1 position. Cannot get to 0 to remove. If I disconnect battery I can remove key?

Sure if that will work, can you try cycling the gearshift from park the low then back into park again? What happens is the gear shift cable wears out not pushing the transmission into park completely. Here is what it takes to replace it. You might be able to adjust it to get it to work. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
