When checking my oil the handle of the dipstick broke off 3/4" inside of the tube where you pull out the dipstick. This has been in and out of my mechanics shop trying to retrieve the broken piece out.

What is making this so difficult is that the tube which the dipstick goes into is one piece connected to the oil pan. The mechanic spoke about cutting the tube away from the oil pan and then fitting it in the oil pan some how. Common sense tells me that there reason why this is one piece because it is made for off road where you may encounter water and you dont want that in the oil pan.

My thought and I want to confirm it with you is to remove the oil pan and try to pull the dipstick out through the oil pan. As a last resort replace the whole oil pan unit.

I think you could get by cutting the tube and then just putting it back together with a good rubber hose and clamps. Just make sure the hose is not near the exhaust and that you try and attach it since then it will flex at the cut. Also when you put it back together make really sure you get the tubes to butt up tight so the level the stick reads will be correct. This would be alot easier and cheaper than pulling the pan. Let me know what you think Curt
