I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty 2wd V-6, & a few days ago, I noticed a grinding noise coming from my serpentine belt area.

At first I thought is was from my power steering pump, because the noise got louder as I turned the steering wheel. I then noticed that the noise was coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment, the power steering pump is on the driver side.

I checked the belt and it is a little worn on the front side of the belt, facing the radiator. I switched off the A/C and noticed that the noise is louder than when the A/C is on.

What could this be, the water pump, A/C compressor, ?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Have to know where it's coming from. Get a piece of hose about 2 feet in length, put one end to your ear, and put the other end near where you hear the noise. Have someone turn the wheel, start the a/c, etc. Till you can pinpoint where the noise is coming from.
