2005 Jeep Liberty Differential Service

I was told by the Jeep dealer to service my differential because of my mileage and that "it smelled". Should I believe them? How often do you service a differential? Thank you!

Hi:
If the differential fluid is full and clean it should be fine. Please check your owner's manual, but I believe if it even says to service them, it's not until 100K.
