Car will not start

I had the battery, alternator and starter checked at Advanced Auto. The diagnostic request a new battery. I put in a new battery and tried to start my car the next day and it would not start. PLEASE HELP.

Is it cranking over and w/n start or just won't crank over at all/nothing when you turn key to cranking position.

My jeep doesnt start right away. I have to turn it at least twice. Got starter tested, thats not it. Spark plug tightened, worked for about 5 minutes then back to not starting right away. When the spark plug was tightened the check engine light went off but problem starting persisted. I heard it could be the fuel pump. Anything else it could be? What step should I take now to avoid wasting money on the wrong problem.

Hello -

To better assist you is your model Freedom, Laredo, Limited, Overland. Also please provide your engine size in liter and the 8th digit of your VIN.

Please go to Auto Zone (AZ) or O'Reilly's (OR) and for FREE they can pull the codes to the car. Most important: Once they check your codes, if they find something and you don't get it fixed and need to get back with us, please make sure you tell us exactly what the code was, number and all. Example, if the code was E0568 O2 Sensor bad. Then make sure you give us all of that. While there for FREE also they can bring their tester out and check your battery and alternator.

We need to figure out if it is electrical or fuel related. Pull a plug wire off of the spark plug and insert something into the end of it and have someone try to start the car and have the metal object really close to a piece of metal on the engine and see if you are getting a good strong popping blue spark. Try several plugs. Don't have your hands on any part of the metal! If there is no spark, then it is electrical.

If you are getting good spark then spray some starting fluid in the throttle body and try to start it and see if it tries to start then.

04 grand Cherokee won't start. Just replaced governor pressure relay and solenoid due to 1756 code. Also replaced spark plugs. Ran great for a day. Now won't start and no codes. Thinking might be MAP sensor?

If its cranking over and will not start check the fuel pressure if its within specs and injector pulses and spark.

Use a spark tester-ST-125

Disconnect the plugwire on the sparkplug and ground it and have helper crank engine over and look for a snapping blue spark

My 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start one day, before breaking down, I had problem with the Jeep starting. I have replaced the starter and still won't start. I noticed that the positive battery cable became hot, checked all the fuses and relay switches, all OK. I disconnected the ignition wire harness and still the positive battery cable became hot. Their is a short, but I can't pin point it. I connected the jumper-cable directly to the starter, battery positive to positive starter terminal and battery negative to engine block, this started the vehicle and the positive battery cable didn't heat up, but once I turned off the vehicle it heated up and won't start. What would I need to check next?

Sounds like a bad ground try checking ground cable. And any body ground that comes off ground. Replace if in doubt.
