Transmission problem
1998 Jeep Cherokee 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I am having a hard time try to get my car to start, the key wont turn and the car is not starting. I turned the steering wheel several times thinking it was locked but it still not starting. What do u think the problem is and how could I go about getting it fixed. Thanks

Are you saying the key won't turn at all? Will it turn enough for the dash lites to come on?

I didn't notice a theft system on your vehicle? Is the tranny in park or neutral and the steering lock engaged?

I would suspect a worn ignition key and or a tumbler inside the cylinder

if you have another key you should try it

we had some issues with them locks
ignition key and cylinder was replaced to solve the problem
