1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited full time 4x4, front wheel bearings? Making noise. Noise is getting louder, 1st, how dangerous is it to drive this Jeep with bad bearings and what will happen if one fails? 2nd how hard are these to replace for a driveway mechanic? Special tools required? 3rd, just a hint on approx cost to have performed by a professional? Bought this truck for $2000 it is in really good condition, seller is going to replace but not for a week. I do not want to friggin crash.

LOL ak,
Crashing is NOT a good thing. The possibility of the bearing failing is a concern. Though personally I would fix it ASAP. Most avid DIYer's can fix it though and the only special tool needed is a torque wrench to retorque the axle nut when the job is complete and torquing that is a MUST as the bearing will fail again if you don't

As to the price of a shop repairing it, ball park, parts and labor 300

Regards,

Chris
