When the problem occurs, check for primary voltage to the coil. If there is none, yes, that will lead to the asd relay. Check voltage and ground circuits at the asd relay with the engine cranking, see what your missing?

The crank and cam sensor share ref voltage and ground circuits. I'd check both sensor circuits.
