1994 Jeep Cherokee wont start at times

Sometimes it wont start. I changed the fuel filter. If I give it a shot of ether it will start and keep running. It has never stalled after starting with the ether shot.I tested the fuel pressure and it was 30 lbs.

Thats low for this vechicle. I suggest changing the fuel pressure regulator.

A mechanic told me it should be 31 lbs fuel pressure. That 30 was fine. He thought it might be the check valve on the pump. I didnt leave the press. Gauge on when I shut it off to see if it holds pressure. Do you still think I should try the fuel press. Regulator

Yes I would try that first. Its gonna be either or, and I do think its the regulator
