My 91 jeep runs fine, could be for days or weeks even. Then it will hitch for a few moments then die. It will start then die right out again. I've replaced the crank position sensor and the distributor sync sensor(stator) But it does it all over again. This problem comes out of nowhere and the wheather and driving condistions are allways different, any advise or direction you could point me in would be appreciated.

Thank you and god bless

Is your check engine light on? If yes turn the key from off to on three times, on the fourth one leave it in the on position, count the flasshes.22 would flash as 2 blinks, then a short puase, then 2 more blinks. If several codes are stored, the pause is longer between codes, code 55 will be the last code. Do this and post all codes found.

Do you have a check engine light? If so get the computer scanned for for code/s-sounds like its running rich

Possible causes include a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode.

Try below if it works

. Just like the good ole G.M.'S Key on engine off, depress accelerator 3 times to the floor within 10 sec. Otherwise you need to use a DRB to reset it

You need special adapter for Jeep's diagnostics. The adapter converts signals into a form the DRB-II can utilize in performing tests. Probably just as cheap and easy to take to local shop to get the codes retrieved.
