1993 Jaguar XJ6 Hard Start Problem

For my own personal reasons I prefer to mail in my donation of $10. I will need an address to mail it to.
I have a '93 Jaguar XJ6 with 130,000 miles. I purchased it in June of 06 (I do not know the prior service history).
Very seldom does it start on the first crank; I have had to crank up to 50 times before it starts. The starter cranks every time. Sometimes the engine will fire and run roughly for about 3 seconds before shutting back off. I recently had the transmission checked out by a transmission shop and they said the tranny was not the problem. I had the tranny fluid and filter changed anyway. I also put on a used differential because the original was damaged due to driving without fluid.
I've also installed a new Valve Cover Gasket kit and new fuel filter and air filter.
Once the car gets started it runs fine. After its been driven it is relatively easy to start again for about the first hour after sitting. If I leave it sitting for more than 2 hours I have to go through the whole hard start problem again.
Please help me!

I would check or replace the coolant temp sensor. It may be out of range and telling the ECU the engine is warmer than it is, and sending too lean a fuel mixture for cold starting.
