When I was putting on the battery terminals the car started. I had the keys in my pocket so I was surprised. It's done it a couple times now. When I got in and put the key in, I turned it on first, then turned it off but it continued to run. Then I put my foot on the brake and it shut off. It starts and shuts off normally now. But I also have a couple other issues; the battery dies after a few days of not driving it and the security light is always on.

Hi,

Does the vehicle have a remote starter system? Also, have you tried to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes? This vehicle has an OBD1 system. A scan tool is not needed to get codes. All you need is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip. Here is a link that explains how to retrieve code. Lets try this and see if anything is stored that may help.

Let me know what you find. Also, let me know if there is a remote starter that is on the vehicle and if it is a factory system or aftermarket.

Take care,
Joe

Thanks for the reply, I don't know if it has a remote starter. Raining big time today so I will do the code check tomorrow. I'll let you know the results.
