The temperature gauge on my 95 Excel (125000km) shows that the vehicle is overheating however this is not the case. When I activiate the left turn indicator the temperature guage moves straight to hot then moves in time with indicator. When the indicator is off the gauge returns to approx 3/4.
Do you have any thoughts on what might be causing the problem?

Wires are bundled under the dash. Somehow two of the wires are touching, whether it is a faulty shielding or something has gotten one of the wires hot to melt. This is just a possibility or another is to look at the instrument cluster itself and see if you can see any obvious problems.
