2002 Hyundai Elantra 69,000 miles

When I use the turn signal or just tough the control that turns on the head lights the lights flcker on and off, they flicker on the dashboard lights and the headlights as well. Usually happens in the AM. All you have to do is tough the control to turn on the headlights and it starts to flicker. I am afraid the lights will go complety off while I am driving. Please help!

Hi julieshay,

Symptoms indicates the multifunction(light) switch is faulty.

Thanks for the reply. What do I need to do now? Do I just take the car to the shop and tell them what you said and they would know what it is? Is it something that you can fix on your own?

The multifunction switch is the part at the end of the lever you use to turn on the headlights and turn signals.

The job is not very difficult but if vehicle is equipped with air-bags, precautions have to be taken before, during and after installation.

You would need to remove the steering wheel and column covers to take the part out.
