My 2001 Elantra will not crank one or more days, then fires right up on a particular day. It has done this for a while now. The battery is checked and fully charged. The clutch safety switch checks OK. I jumped across the two wired and snapped it back into place, still no cranking. I believe the starter is good because it does crank and start, sometimes. When it does not, then does start I didn't move the vehicle an inch. Is there another switch or relay that either works or not to cause this problem?

What I need you to do is have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage to the smaller wire on the starter. Do this when it won't start. If you have 12 volts, then chances are the starter is bad.

Let me know what you find.
