RETRIEVING CODES NOTE: For specific scan tool operating procedures, see the scan tool manufacturer's instruction manual. Before entering on-board diagnostics, refer to SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Turn ignition off. Locate Data Link Connector (DLC) under left side of instrument panel. Connect scan tool. See Fig. 1 . 1. Operate scan tool according to manufacturer's instructions. Read and record scan tool self- diagnostic output. Perform necessary repair(s). See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION and appropriate diagnostic tests in appropriate TESTS W/CODES article. See the following list. 2. Accent, see: TESTS W/CODES "Â Elantra and Tiburon, see: TESTS W/CODES "Â Sonata 2.0L, see: TESTS W/CODES "Â Sonata 3.0L,see: TESTS W/CODES "Â Fig. 1: Installing Scan Tool (Typical) Courtesy of HYUNDAI MOTOR CO. Page 1 of 1 TESTS W/CODES - INTRODUCTION -1998 Hyundai Accent GL 4/26/2009 Some hand held scanners only have one connector, plug this onto the DLC. Single wire should be a ground wire reattach it. It wont shift is probably caused by the shift interlock, look on the brake pedal for the switch, do the brake lights work? If yes the actuator may be NG, look on the bottom of the shifter under the console.
