Transmission fluid temperature sensor- short circuit

I know nothing regarding cars. So if anyone can tell me how serious this is and possibly how much this is going to cost it would help me out a lot. I don't have a good check until jan 15th so I'm kinda freaking out. Thanks

DTC P0712 indicates a faulty oil temperature sensor or faulty wiring to the sensor.

This sensor does not effect driveability of the vehicle. There is no need to repair this immediately, however it should be repaired whenever possible. It will cost approx. $115 to have this repaired, including labor and parts.
