1986 Honda CRX 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

Yeah, I have an 86 carburated crx hf. And my problem is I can't get fuel up to the carb.I've replaced the fuel pump, fuel filters, cleaned the strainer that's in the tank, and replaced the 2 way valve. It ran when I put everything together, but the next day I went out to start it and it started and died.I pulled off the main fuel line on the fuel pump and blew air in the lines and it blew something out because fuel started to come. Started it up and it died again. Found out their was no fuel at the pump again.I've read that it could be a fuel regulator.I don't know what's going on but it's frustrating.I need help.I know the tank is clean. Thanks

Hi Joshua,

Is your vehicle equipped with mechanical or electrical fuel pump?

There is no fuel pressure regulator for carburetted models. The control of fuel to carb is done by the float and needle in carb float chamber.

When fuel is not being delivered, either there clogging in the fuel lines or there is a leakage whereby instead of fuel, air is being sucked by the fuel pump. The residual fuel in the carb would allow you to start the engine for a brief period before it stalls.

Check for loose connections, damaged or worn delivery fuel hoses and pipes. Look out for signs of fuel leakages. Test the fuel pump, if dirt has gone into it, the valves could be prevented from closing and not allowing the pump to work correctly.
Check for kinked hoses, especially near fuel filter area.

Sorry I am not able to get any data on the item that you mentioned and I have no recollection of any valve on the return hose.

On the delivery hose there is a pulsation damper valve before the inlet to the carb float chambers.
