Changing Shocks

200 honda Civic with 265,000km.
I want change the shocks on th e rear.
Do I need something to compress the springs when changing the shocks on the front and/or rear?

I think the answer is yes. I would borrow, get from the library or buy from the auto parts store a manual on the car. It will walk you through the process according to your year and model.
