Air Conditioning problem
2007 Honda Civic 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 4100.0 miles

My car blows hot air When at a stand still. When driving it's cool air. Had a basic AC check and they said it didn't have a leak or need freon. But was going to charge me 100.00 to tell What's wrong.

Hi u417162,

Check if the A/C compressor is engaging when vehicle is stopped.

Check the cooling fans as well.

Was just told that the AC compressor is working.

What about the condenser and radiator cooling fans?

OK so they said fans are OK. Different place told me I was low on freon. Don't. Know what to think.

If the compressor and cooling fans are working while not cooling sufficiently, the next thing you need to do is to get the low and high pressure readings. That would tell you if freon level is correct or if there are other indication of faults.

The first place said That readings where wrong but I still had freon, that the negative and positive where switched. I'm going to put freon and see what happens.

Let me know the low and high readings first.

Without knowing the problem, adding freon and hoping that it works is not the way to go about.
