1997 Honda Civic transmission slip

When the car gets into 1st gear it sometimes slip, not always. Every other gear works fine.

Does it happen only when cold or after warming up?
Is it slow to engage 1st gear?
Did you check the trans fluid level?
What is the color of the fluid?

For 1st gear to slip, it usually means the trans is failing.
