The rear drivers side handle no longer allows the door to open from the outside, need to use inside handle to open. I have taken the door apart and was able to see where the damage was. The metal piece that was attached to the outside handle is no longer attached. It was held in by a plastic retaining clip which I believe is broken. I went to the Honda dealer to see if I could obtain a replacement and they indicated their computer does not show such a clip. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Go to your local parts store. In one of the aisle, there will be a section called "Help" section with a bunch of replacement clips and such. The usual brand is Dorman or Motormite. You should be able to find a similar clip for your door.

If you can't find in the store, you may have to resort to your local wrecking yard.
