I have a 96 civic that hesitates at low RPMs it is most noticeable as you start out in 1st or shift into 2nd. When you try to accelerate it hesitates and stumbles till the RPM's get up around 2000 then no problems. It acts the same in 3rd if you shift too soon and lug the engine. The check engine light doesnt come on and I have changed the Fuel filter. The car is fuel injected

Any ideas.

Sounds like it could be ignition related, have you had it tuned up yet and if so what parts did they use? Low speed misfires are usually caused by old/faulty ignition parts (plugs, wires, cap, rotor)

I havent done a tuneup yet. I was trying to decide which direction to go. I will do the plugs, cap & rotor and see if it improves.

Thanks
