1994 Honda Civic exhaust

I have a 94 honda civic with headers ans catback exhaust. I have black stuff coming out of my muffler when I first star the car. What is the black stuff and what could cause it?

It's carbon, all cars have it. If it's excessive, is there any black smoke when it's running? If yes its running too rich, or too much gas! 02 sensors may need to be replaced.
