I have a 93 civic hatch. After the car warms up if I get into the gas prett good the temp g's up but when I let off it go's down and it does smoke a little bit but not much.

Is the smoke white? If so you may have a headgasket issue.

However, check the basics first. Look for any leaks and check your coolant level.
