Hi, I have a 91' honda civic si hatchback. It has just recently started having issues idling during cold starts. I turn the key and the engine turns on, then the rpms drop off and it stalls. I have to start it up 5 or 6 times, and each time it start it, I have to hold the gas pedal down a little bit to keep it from stalling for a few seconds. When I do this, the check engine light comes on eventually. After the check engine light comes on, I turn it off and start it again and then it works. Once it has warmed up, there aren't any problems. I have no idea what the problem is.

You must retrieve the code to properly diagnose this. It may be IACV or FITV related, but find out what the code is first.

The ECU LED flashes a code number at you, let me know what you find

I figured out what the problem was. The error code indicated that their was a prob with the IACV. I pulled it off, and it was completely blocked. I cleaned it and the FITV because it was pretty dirty too. Now it works fine.
