Engine problem
1987 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 150k miles

I have to let car warm up for 10 minutes. After temperature guage goes up, I drive. If it is cold outside temperature guage drops down again and car stalls. I have to restart and let warm up all over again, and then if it is cold outside or I go up to a higher elevation, the temperature guage drops again, and it will stall.

My civic starts okay and runs fine for as long as it's running, then after it's warm, if I stop it it will either run rough, or not start at all.

Seems like some kind of thermostat thing, where perhaps the computer is trying to run a mixture for an engine for a different temperature than it really is. I read something about an "idle speed motor" on anothr post. Could this apply to us, too?
