Shakes or Wobbles problem
2005 Honda City Manual 65000 miles

there seems to be problem with the clutch of my honda. Everytime I pick up on the 1st gear, I have to press more race pedal otherwise there is vibration in the car. Also sometimes while driving at normal speed only, the car suddenly shakes while changing gears, may be coz of the clutch or the car is running at low speed on 4th or 5th gear. The clitch needs to be done I guess. I want to know if I continue driving like this without any repairs done, what harm is it going to make on the whole car.
the AC of the car is making little sound, ishowed it to some mechanic. He said it is fine, some internal bearing is making the noise which cannot be repaired. I shud use it as long as it is working fine. Shud I use it like this or any repair is possible of the kompressor.
someone suggested me I shud get the injectors cleaned as the car has run above 65000 kms. Is it beneficial or shud I pour the liquid in the petrol tank which serves the purpose.
what all is there in the clutch besides plates, bearing if whole of it needs to be done.
is there any way clutch can be adjusted.
please let me know of all the details for my knowledge.
thanks.

Hi there,

If you don't do the clutch repair you can cause damage to the transmission syncro's, these are internal components that facilitate the gear change smoothly, when the clutch is o/hauled make sure that the fly wheel is re machined as this is very important to the new clutches smooth operation, there is no manual adjustment for this clutch, if the bearing noise is with in the compressor you will just have to replace the compressor as any repair will not be cost efficient, and you are far better getting the injectors removed and serviced as a set, using the injector cleaner is ok, but not a real overhaul of the system.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm a layman so can I know what do mean when u wrote the fly wheel to be re machined when o/haul is done. What is fly wheel and what is the purpose of it.
Also what is the minimum cost of getting o/haul done.
What all parts get changed in the process.
Can I also know the use of each part which will get changed.
What is the average life after o/haul.

Thanks again

Hi there,

The fly wheel has 3 functions, the clutch is bolted to it this is the connection between the engine and transmission, the ring gear is attached to the fly wheel this is driven by the starter to turn the engine while starting, the flywheel is also a mass balance which keeps the engine turning over smoothly while running.

The clutch consist of the pressure plate this locks the clutch plate to the flywheel the main input shaft of the transmission fits in the clutch plate and when the clutch is locked to the flywheel this transmits power to the transmission, a special thrust bearing is used to press on the pressure plate to release the clutch when changing gears.

As for cost this I don't know as I live in Australia and my prices won't be much good to you, just ring around and get a quote or two

The life of a clutch will vary depending on how you drive it, but 120, 140,000 Km's can be achieved with care.
