2001 Honda Accord acceleration

Have noticed that my car needs a lot of pressure on the gas pedal to get it moving, took notice after driving my friends Accord, (same year and model), and his gas pedal was more free flowing and didn't seem as stiff as my gas pedal. I lubed my acceration cable from the firewall and inside under the pedal, didnt help much, wanted to ask the pros before spending money on throttle cleaning etc. Thx, my next question will be a donation.
