Just wondered if an SRS indicator light would cause a smog check failure? I know the SRS is for the airbags and really has nothing to do with emissions. But I was wondering if the light being on would cause the technician to fail the car on the visual inspection.

Not on emissions he shouldn't. The issue is one to be concerned with. The tech should have been more helpful in helping to narrow down where you failed at. You paid for the check and should know the full results.
