Transmission problem
1995 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 320K miles

I have a noise when engine braking in 4th gear, if you let the vehicle engine brake between 110k and 80k, I get an almost metal on metal sound. By downshifting a gear or depressing the accelerator, the noise disappears. It does this everytime without fail. Recently the seal between motor and trans was replaced, the dealer forgot to put in a retaining clip on the driveline and lost all fluids. This was remedied but I have wound up with this existing fault. Any suggestions?

Hi daveca,

The loss of fluids could have caused some components inside the trans to be worn rersulting in the noise. Since the problem was due to workmanship error, you should get back to the dealer to have them rectified for you at their expenses.
