The brake lights on the car are staying on all the time even when the car is turned off. Checked the brake to see if anything was depressing the pedal and everything seemed normal. Not sure if to look for a sensor or something else in the system.

Many thanks for any advice.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a faulty brake light switch.
The brake light switch is located under the brake pedal. As the pedal gets depressed the switch gets triggered and the brake lights turn on.
Over time with normal wear and tear the switch can malfunction. It is probably shorted to the on position and that is why the brake light is staying on.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
