I have the vehicle listed above XLT. It has a 5.4 Triton engine. The car starts with no problem, but the high temperature low oil light comes on. The oil is fine, and it is full of antifreeze. The temperature gauge doesn’t work, and the air conditioner won’t blow cold air. Drive it about 5 miles and the buzzer goes off and the temperature gauge goes to the H. Then the car shuts off. Crank it right back up and it runs again, the temperature gauge works fine and only reads medium heat and the air conditioner works fine until the light comes back on. Which sensor is responsible for this problem?

Hi,

It sounds like we have a short at some point or a module that is failing.

As far as the issue is concerned, if I had your vehicle, I would start with scanning the can-bus system. This vehicle has several computers/modules that control different functions and determine if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored (other than the powertrain). This needs to be done.

CAN stands for controller area network. As mentioned, there are multiple modules. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link that shows how it's done:

Let me know if this is something you can do or have done.

Take care,

Joe
